Donald P. Hinman will join Epsilon Data Services as senior VP for product development in data services. He will report directly to Brian Rainey, president of Epsilon data management. Hinman will work out of the company's Lafayette, CO office.

Hinman was most recently executive VP for product development at Naperville, IL-based Allant Group, a position he held for two years. Before joining Allant, he was group leader for InfoBase products at Acxiom Corp. between 1994 and 2005. He also held positions with NDL Lifestyle Selector.

The new position will allow Hinman to reclaim his mantle of "Dr. Data", a nickname he earned over the years as a result of his work in aggregating data sources and combining them into new offerings.

As part of his position with Epsilon Data Services, Hinman plans to combine demographic and behavioral data into a continuous look at consumer transactional behavior -- how people have gone through life stage changes, and how that affects their buying behavior -- rather than the static approach offered by recency, frequency and monetary analysis.

Hinman also serves as chair of the operating committee of the Direct Marketing Association's Ethics Policy Committee.
