Cheryl M. Bagdan, a senior account executive in Statlistics' brokerage division, died on Oct. 27. Bagdan had been injured in an automobile accident on Oct. 19. She was 52.

Bagdan had been with Statlistics for three years, and had previously worked at Leon Henry Inc. for 18 years. Before joining the list industry, she worked in publishing.

"Cheryl brought more to our office than [being just] a salesperson," said John Papalia, president and CEO at Statlistics. "She was a benchmark for enthusiasm, an extroverted individual who loved people and her love of people always showed."

In a 2006 broker profile, Bagdan talked about her preference for working with start-ups and companies that hadn't previously rented lists. Clients new to list rentals are the most challenging and receptive to brokerage consultation, she said.

In contrast, seasoned direct marketers rely on analyzing data to select lists, or are looking for new blood or ideas following management changes, she added.

Bagdan also told Direct about her enthusiasm for downhill skiing ("we're a skiing family and we like to get an early start in Maine. I don't like the bumps, though, so I always do the easy trail.") and her affection for vacationing in Cape Cod.

Papalia recalled an out-of-town sales call, in which Bagdan came away with "a substantial piece of business." During the trip back to the airport, the two were pulled over for a violation.

"We were stopped by the state police, and Cheryl started telling the officer about the sales meeting, and how well it went," Papalia said. "She confused the guy, and finally he said 'Go on, make your plane.'

"That was the ultimate sales job," Papalia said.

A memorial service will be held for Cheryl on Wednesday, October 31 at 12:00 noon at Weinstein Memorial Chapel, 1652 Central Park Avenue, Yonkers, New York 10710 (914-793-3800).

The family will be observing shiva and receiving Cheryl's friends at their home at 50 Perry Avenue, Port Chester, New York 10573, Wednesday, October 31 and Thursday, November 1 from 6:00-9:00 p.m.

Bagdan is survived by her husband, Scott, and daughters Shelby and Caitlin.

In honor of Cheryl, Statlistics will be closed Wednesday, October 31.
